I am a self taught artist based in Aotearoa New Zealand.
My first passion is for social documentary and still life photography inspired by Marti Friedlander and Karl Blossfeldt. I have exhibited at the Depot Artspace Devonport, Auckland Zoo, A Fine Line Gallery, Studio 541 and Art Matakana . As a freelance photographer, I sell stock photography through Getty Images and My Chilly bin image libraries and am available for portraiture commissions. The quirkier the better! I am a also a registered provider for Sweet Louise, offering family portraits for women with breast cancer.
My addiction to creativity extends to mixed media assemblage & hand made creative books. Assemblage work takes me to my dark side, inspired by Dias de las Muertos and a spirit that wrestles constantly with the intricacies of life and death. I am in awe of insanely talented artists like Ron Pippin, Salvador Dali, Joseph Cornell and Micheal deMeng.
I have a new trajectory as a garden alchemist, ecoprinting with natural botanical dyes to create luscious garments with my own label Nuku. I also make children's clothing from vintage and preloved fabrics under the label of What The Frock and offer sewing lessons for complete beginners.
Through assemblage, eco-dying, bookmaking, sewing and photography I express my concerns for the planet. Environmentalism and sustainability are common themes to my work, evident in recycling, repurposing and restoring.
